Victory Over RELATIONAL ISSUES A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34 chapter 6

God wants us to have great relationships. We break/build them by what we do/don’t do!

When we live in sin relationships are broken.

Broken relationships can be restored as we allow God to transform our lives.

Keep us disconnected from people around us The Devil’s Trap

Transfer relational issues to future generations The Devil’s Trap

Five Common Relational Issues

Five Common Relational Issues: 1. Offense A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. Proverbs 18:19 Whoever forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever keeps bringing up the issue separates the closest of friends. Proverbs 17:9

Five Common Relational Issues: 2. Unforgiveness and bitterness Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Ephesians 4:31 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15

Five Common Relational Issues: 3. Rebellion against authority The sin of black magic is rebellion. Wickedness and idolatry are arrogance. Because you rejected the word of the LORD, he rejects you as king. 1 Samuel 15:23 Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin. Psalm 106:43

Five Common Relational Issues: 4. Broken family relationships Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made a richly ornamented robe for him. When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. Genesis 37:3-4

Five Common Relational Issues: 5. Rejection The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. Luke 9:22 A servant isn't greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. John 15:20

God’s Solution for Healthy Relating

1. Forgive people who offend you For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15 70 times 7. Matthew 18:21- 22

God’s Solution for Healthy Relating 2. Ask people to forgive you If you are offering your gift at the altar and remember that someone has something against you, leave your gift and go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24

God’s Solution for Healthy Relating 3. Remove roots of bitterness See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Heb 12:15 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Ephesians 4:31
