4 Product Analysis What is product analysis?? Product analysis means asking questions about a product and forming answers. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PRODUCT ANALYSIS?? A product may need analysing by a potential customer to help him/her decide whether it is worth buying. A product may need analysing so that the design can be improved.

5 What do you think of when you are about to buy a product?? ERGONOMICS – The Comfort COST AESTHETICS -Does the product look good? Is it stylish? CONSTRUCTION METHOD - How has the product been made? (will it fall apart when in use? Will it scratch easily? etc.....) HEALTH AND SAFETY - Is the product safe? MATERIALS - Are the materials suitable for this type of product? Are they quality materials or do they make the product look cheap? ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT - What is the environmental impact of the product? Is it manufactured from materials supplied by sustainable sources? Can the materials be recycled or reused?

6 What materials have been used to make it? Are the materials suitable for this type of product? Are the materials of good quality or do they make the product look cheap?

7 ManufactureManufacture How has the product been made? What are the different components of the product and how do they work together? What was the cost of manufacturing the product? What production process method was used?

8 Aesthetics Does the product look good? Is it stylish? Does the customer find the product appealing? How is it presented? Do you like the look of the product? Explain why or why not.

9 Ergonomics and Anthropometrics How has the product been ergonomically designed?

10 Function What is the main function of the product? How will it be used? Does the product work?

11 Is the product environmentally friendly? Can the product be recycled or reused? Does it have any recycling symbols? Can the product be improved in order to make it better for the environment?

12 Safety Is the product safe to use? Could any parts of the product be harmful to the user? Does the product come with any instructions or advice regarding its safety?

13 Target Audience Who is the product aimed at? Who would use the product? Who would buy the product? Where will it be sold (Point of Sale)? Will the cost of the product determine your Target Audience?
