2 Genre: “Travel Writing”
Travel literature typically records the experiences of an author touring a place for the pleasure of travel. An individual work is sometimes called a travelogue. Literary travelogues generally exhibit a coherent narrative or aesthetic beyond the logging of dates and events as found in travel journals. Travel literature is closely associated with outdoor literature and the genres often overlap with no definite boundaries.

Bryson is an award-winning best-selling American author of humorous books on travel, as well as books on the English language and on science. After living in Britain for much of his life, he returned to the U.S. in During his time, Bryson decided to walk the Appalachian Trail, about which he wrote the book A Walk in the Woods.
