Task 10 Explain how to set up the viewing screen to show multiple views of the component to help with drawing creation (to include isometric front and side elevations)

To change the standard single view

If you want to include the isometric, front and side elevations, you will to divide the screen into a minimum of 3 windows: Isometric Front elevation Side elevation

To do this you select Window from the top pull-down menu, then Viewport and finally 4 views, as the option for 3 isn’t available.

The screen splits into 4 sections and you have independent views named Top, Front, Right and Isometric, as shown below.

Each view can be altered or worked on, but any changes made apply to the entire model, as each view is still the same part.

Any Questions?

In Conclusion: To set up the viewing screen to show multiple views of the component to help with drawing creation, you need to complete the following steps when using SolidWorks. Select the Window option from the top pull-down menu, then select Viewport and finally select the option for 4 views, as the option for 3 views is not available. The screen splits into 4 sections and you have independent views named Top, Front, Side and Isometric. Each view can be altered or edited, but changes made will apply to the entire model, as each view is still the same model, just viewed from a different view point. This option is not available in some CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor.
