3 CREEC/Region 10 Education and the Environment Initiative  In October 2003, after extensive negotiations, California Assembly Bill 1548 (The Pavley Bill) was signed into law to establish the Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI). 4 Service Learning  The California Regional Service-Learning Network Program provides leadership and collaborates with others to increase the capacity for the design and implementation of service-learning in schools, districts, and communities across the 12 California County Superintendents Educational Services Association regions.

5 STEM---Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics  Goals:  * Increase interest and competencies among all K-14 California students in STEM disciplines (including critical thinking, innovation, and use of information technologies)  * Ensure all California students are college and career ready upon graduation from high school without the need for remediation, with a greater number of students pursuing STEM-related degrees and careers  * Build a network that connects existing assets and develops new capacity to innovate, scale and sustain effective STEM teaching and learning
