3 The Origin Once upon a time, the Jade Emperor invited all the animals on earth to celebrate his birthday.

4 The Jade Emperor ’ s Birthday Party He invented Chinese calendar, and in his birthday party, he wanted to name 12 years after 12 animals, too.

5 Honor the 12 animals Therefore, a competition was taken place. The first 12 animals arrived will be the winners. And in the party, he would honor these 12 animals. Each one of them would have a year of its own.

6 Rat was the first one to arrive. It played a trick on Ox and rode on it to cross the river. Right after they crossed the river, he jumped off the Ox ’ s back and got the first place. Who Is the First to Arrive?

7 What are the other ten winners? Ox became the second to arrive. After rat and ox came tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
