Reflection Reflection is the bouncing back of light rays when they hit an object.

Absorption Absorption is when light gets soaked up by something in the environment. Absorption is when light gets soaked up by something in the environment. A flashlight beam gets dimmer because the light gets absorbed by air particles.

Absorb means to soak up! A sponge ABSORBS water.
