Ozlem Cakici Associate Professor Zoology Section, Biology Department Science Faculty, Ege University Bornova-Izmir, Turkey

Ozlem Cakici’s main research interests focus on the histopathological effects of pesticides such as carbaryl, diazinon and propanil on the internal organs (digestive tract, liver, kidney and gonads) of animals, especially on frogs, lizards and mice. Research Interest

Recently, many species is about to extinction due to haphazard use of pesticides, including insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. In particular, amphibian population declines are of great interest as a global problem. Therefore, I am also interested in the mechanism of pesticides.

In addition to gonadal structure of fish, atresia and apoptosis are within my work topics. My another work topic is embryonic development of fish and some animals. Structures of snake’s venom gland and Duvernoy’s gland are my another interest area.

On the other hand, my another interest area is the various histochemical staining methods. I am examining the insect egg morphology, especially Gryllidae species by means of scanning electron microscopy.

In addition, I am interested in cricket culture (black cricket Melanogryllus desertus, two spotted cricket Gryllus bimaculatus) and internal organ structures, especially digestive tract of some insects.
