4 Course Synopsis This course covers writing paragraphs and the different types of academic essays. This course also emphasizes on types of sentences, tenses, transitions, selected parts of speech, the process of drafting, revising, and editing of texts for academic purposes. 03/03/20134

18 Assignment 1 (15%) Paragraph Writing 1. Students are required to write ONE cause and effect paragraph of 250-300 words of any of the topics below: A) Discuss the causes and effects of working while studying. B) Discuss the causes and effects of early marriage. 03/03/201318

19 Assignment 1 (15%) Paragraph Writing 2. Marks will be awarded for each process of writing. Make sure your assignment has the following: i) Paragraph outline ii) First draft iii) Peer-editing form iv) Second draft v) Self-editing form vi) Final draft 3. 20 Assignment 2 (25%) Essay Writing 1. Write a 500 word argumentative essay (about 2 pages double-spaced) that references at least two articles or news reports. The articles may be taken from newspapers, magazines, books, journals, or other printed sources. Is early age marriage the best method to prevent unethical behavior ? 2. At the end of your essay, there must be a reference section that gives the full citation of these articles. 03/03/201320
