3 Psychopaths: They don’t care about the pain or suffering of others and even less if they are the ones inflicting it. 1% maybe more within the U.S. population. 20-30% of psychopaths are found within the prison population, mostly men but women too. The rest live within society, as our neighbors, co-workers, friends or partners. Not all Psychopaths are vicious killers! 7 Forensic psychologist and criminologist use the terms Sociopath and Psychopath equally and interchangeably. They are both similar and different too! Sociopath Nervous and Agitated easily. Prone to emotional outburst and fits of rage Tend to be Uneducated Unable to hold a steady job or long term relationships Attached to a person or group and disregard society. Any crime committed tends to be spontaneous not planned. Might appear troubled or disturbed to others. Psychopath Manipulative and Charming personalities. No emotional attachments and lack of empathy They learn to mimic emotions from an early age even though they don’t feel them. They appear normal, educated, hold steady jobs and family. Any crimes committed are planned ahead of time in detail. They are very calm, cool and collected!

8 Is a psychopath born or made? Psychopaths are born with the inability to feel empathy! They can have brain damage or head trauma that can alter brain function in their frontal lobe! Ultimately it’s their environment that will shape the course of the disorder! For every known psychopath that came from a troubled abusive family where they were deprived of love and material security there is a psychopath that came from a loving, nurturing family where they were taken care of and have normal siblings yet commit horrendous crimes.
