Please explain the extent to which you agree with each of the following statements about this event: A similar activity should be repeated every year A similar activity should be repeated every semester The fact that participation was "mandatory" was a key driver in my club's participation. The possibility of extra funding for my club was a key driver in my club's participation. I see how one or more ideas raised in these presentations could be applied to my club I will attempt to use one or more of these ideas in my club Additional participation of first year MBA students/rising club leadership would enhance the value of this activity Should this activity be repeated next fall semester, there is a better time to do it (please use the comment field below to offer any recommendations). 8 Competition Comments: Text Response The information from this meeting should be available to all clubs, whether they took part in the event or not. We should constantly update it with "case studies" following the examples given in those presentations. To me, the best place for this would be right after the leadership transition so new leadership can include new ideas in their planning. Good opportunity for idea sharing and reconnecting with the leadership of other groups. I would definitely recommend doing this in the spring as well, since I believe this is the time when club activity generally drops off, potentially creating a gap in the value they can provide students. It would be interesting to see how different groups used the spring semester, whether as a continuation of previous activities, start of different activities or initial planning for next fall. The event should be scheduled in the Spring semester as the new leadership is forming. If two such events are being planned, the event should be scheduled before Thanksgiving so as to not collide with final presentations and final exam preparation. Please enter any additional comments/recommendation you might have about this event:

Please explain the extent to which you agree with each of the following statements: I am confident that the First Year students in my club have learned the skills (interviewing/resume/networking) needed to get them desirable jobs I am confident that the Second Year students in my club have learned the skills (interviewing/resume/networking) needed to get them desirablejobs I am satisfied with the support (financial and otherwise) I receive from the GBA for my club's activities and goals I am satisfied with the support (financial and otherwise) I receive from the Program Office for my club's activities and goals I am satisfied with the support (financial and otherwise) I receive from the CMC for my club's activities and goals I would be interested in working with the Program Office to identify new mechanisms to secure offers for both the first and second years in my club I could see a value in the Program Office conduction a survey of first year students to identify Job Skills (interviewing/resume/networking) that they are not comfortable with. If such a survey was conducted, as a Career Club leader, I would like to see the responses from First Years in my club Club Satisfaction Survey

Competition Comments Text Response Career focused clubs are there to help prepare, but I don't want to see the burden shifting off of the CMC onto already overloaded student leadership. Please enter any additional comments about....anything that you would like to share:

Better Preparing Marketing Students for Job Opportunities A GMA Presentation 12/5/08 Goizueta Marketing Association

The Situation As the GMA Leadership, we established an action plan that would address these challenges directly, while complimenting CMC offerings, in order to best prepare marketing students for internship and full-time opportunities. Last year, 2 nd -year marketing students had to rely on informal conversation to gain perspective on each other's internship experiences. As a result, they had trouble deciding where to apply for full-time positions. In addition, 1 st -year students were curious to learn from 2 nd -years about their internship experiences as well as how they obtained their offers.

Our Action Plan for Fall ‘08 1st-years Created panel aimed at 1 st - years, in which 2 nd -year marketing students could share effective tactics for obtaining internship offers, plus learnings from their summer experiences 2nd-years Developed round-table forum where ’09 marketing students could openly discuss their internship experiences and thoughts regarding various companies Internationals Created Q&A panel geared directly toward international student concerns, such as company sponsorship and American business terminology Part-time & One-years Added new leadership position responsible for informing part-time & One-yr. students of club activities and encouraging their involvement

Results Over 50 1st-years attended the Internship Panel and GMA Bootcamp. Students provided an overwhelmingly positive response - commenting specifically on the relevant and insightful examples of internship-search best practices. 1st-years Gained a better understanding of the wide-ranging marketing functions. This provided information to help focus their full-time searches. 2nd-years & One-years Learned how GMSC and knowledge of the US market was considered critical for 50% of international students in finding an internship. Internationals More active involvement with GMA, plus greater opportunities to network. Part-Time

Learnings and Next Steps Learnings –International students have unique needs that have to be addressed separately –2 nd -years can share valuable insights not only with 1 st - years students, but also with 2 nd -years on their internship and job search experience –Increasing GBS marketing student network (from all programs) can bring value to students searching for jobs –GMA Bootcamp and student panels serve to provide fresh perspectives Next Steps –Organize International Student Panel every year –Set a structured forum for 2 nd -years students to share their internship experience with the first years students –Increase networking with other programs to make connections Survey students on needs, pre and post events, for continuous improvement
