2 The American Dream The American dream was an idea that everybody should have equal rights, jobs and homes no matter what circumstances and cultural backgrounds they came from. George tells Candy about their dream of getting a piece of land and Candy offers to join them.

3 The Wall Street Crash (October 1929) The wall street crash led many people to depression in America as nearly a third of America’s population were unemployed. Due to millions of dollars being wiped out in an event. The book Of Mice and Men was written in the middle of the Wall Street Crash.

4 The Great Depression From the great wall street crash this led onto great depression throughout America. As so many people were without a job. Lennie and George had to travel together during the Great Depression because they could not get jobs were the lived due to the Wall Street Crash.

5 Migrant Farmers Migrant Farm workers live on very low wages, they are most disadvantaged and at risk population in the USA. Children in migrant families start working in the fields as young as 10 years old. Lennie and George got work as migrant farm workers.
