3 What is Human Values & Bioethics?
Human Values – Principles or standards of behavior; what one considers to be important or beneficial Ethics - the moral principles governing or influencing your conduct Bio – relating to life (ex: biography) Bioethics - the ethics of medical and biological research

Read fiction interactively Read fiction for characterization Read fiction for point of view

5 Unit 3- Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to: Write about point of view. Write about characterization Research a bioethics issue. Write a research-based paper about a bioethics issue from an alternative point of view (Example: cloning)

6 Human Values & Bioethics
Essential Questions How have scientific innovations advanced individuals and society? 2. In what ways have scientific innovations challenged bioethics and human values? 3. How far should science venture to cure human diseases/lengthen human life (e.g. stem cell research, cloning, etc…)

7 Unit 3 – Group Activity With the group at the your table
On chart paper, brainstorm the ONE essential question Discuss what you think this question represents Groups will report to class Class will take notes from each group
