Literary Terms  Theme: the main idea  Resolution: final outcome  Protagonist: main character (Brutus)  Antagonist: one who opposes the protagonist (Antony)  Tragedy: Drama where the main character is brought to ruin/death or suffers extreme sorrow. Includes characters who have a tragic flaw and moral weakness.

4 Some Things To Know…  It was known that Brutus and Cassius never had a fight that is portray in Act IV. Shakespeare did this to add conflict to his drama.  Even though Octavius and Antony are victors at Philippi, Shakespeare has no intention of giving them credit for the victory. Rather these two won by pure luck of confusion.  Antony says, “Brutus, was the most noble Roman of them all.” Shakespeare also believes Antony is a noble Roman too.
