2. Monday, Dec 2 Review memoirs Read assigned memoir Answer handout questions---- 25 point grade Share summaries with class to help promote ideas for your topic. Announce intervention assignments to take a Test on memoirs. Pass around packet about missing assignments and grades.

3. Tuesday, Dec 3 You are going to write a series of 3 journals about your memoir event. Each journal will be 10 points each. To receive full credit you need to write 1+ page. Less than a page will result in a score of 50% or less

4. Journal 1: The Event and Lesson Free write about an event that taught you a life lesson, major or minor. Record as much detail as you can--- What events lead up to this event? Record the action of the event How did the event end Identify the climax of the event What lesson did you learn?

5. Journal 2: The People Involved  You might want to list the people and write a paragraph about each person.  Who was there?  Describe each person’s personality and mood.  Include any background information that will matter to the reader.  What was each person wearing?  What was each person’s role in the event ?

6. Journal 3: The Environment What was the weather like? Where were you? (Location) Was it day or night? (Did this effect the event?) What objects are involved: a car, a TV, eating utensils, a desk, etc? Describe the main objects in detail

7. Organization and First Draft Start in the present with a lead or introduction. Think about they ways the examples we read in class began. End in the present tying the lesson learned to the introduction- like the examples we read. Describe the event in detail. Revisit the lesson periodically. Include much of the specific details that you recorded in your previous journals.

8. Final Review rubric Check grammar and spelling…. Some personalization in grammar and spelling is allowed in sentence structure and spelling to capture the mood and tone of your story. Include dialogue where appropriate Peer editing

9. Finishing/ publishing If you handwrote….. Notebook paper 3 pages (at least) Name heading and page numbers. Write clearly and neatly. I will not grade those I cannot read because of poor handwriting. If you Typed…. Double spaced 2 pages (at least) Name heading and page numbers.
