2 Lesson Objectives ( Use your microphone to read the goals aloud) Explain what perimeter is Solve for the perimeter of a given figure Create your own quadrilateral figure and solve for the perimeter

3 Quick Check Write down as many words related to PERIMETER as you can using your pen/ highlighter tool.

4 PERIMETER Perimeter measures the space AROUND the shape. You can find the perimeter of a shape by adding up all of the sides. Green Check or Red X if your brainstorm guess was correct.

6 Finding the Perimeter The shape is a rectangle Add up all the lengths of the sides Write the unit when giving your final answer 3 feet 12 F E T 12 F E T

7 GUESS WHAT?! It doesn't matter what order you add the sides up in to find the area as long as you add up all of the sides. Raise your hand if you can tell me why the order the sides are added on doesn't change the final sum.
