1 Mysteries of the Universe
Fadeeva Tanya Kobegina Vika The 8th Class School №196

2 The aims of the project:
to find the definition “Solar System”, to tell about some interesting facts about our solar system, to find out why people are so interested in exploration of our Universe.

3 What is the Universe?

4 What is the solar system?

5 The Sun The Sun is a yellow dwarf star.
It is believed to be over 4 billion years old. It is nearly 99% of the galaxy mass.

6 The Moon The Moon is the Earth's only natural satellite and the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System! The Moon is like a desert. The Moon travels around the Earth in an oval shaped orbit.

7 Meteorites Meteoroid is a piece of stone-like or metal-like debris which travels in outer space. Very bright meteors are known as fireballs. A small number of meteorites have been shown to be of Lunar (23 finds) or Martian (22) origin.

8 Stars Stars formed from gas- dust environment as a result of gravitational compression. The temperature in the center of the star is around million Kelvin. There are different groups of stars: Red Dwarfs, Yellow Stars, Blue Giants.

9 Asteroids The Asteroid Belt
An asteroid is a bit of rock. Most of the asteroids in our solar system can be found orbiting the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids can be a few feet to several hundred miles wide.

10 The Dwarf Planets

11 Comets A comet's tail can be millions of kilometers in length.
About 100,000 million comets orbit the Sun. What seems to be light from the comet is actually a reflection of our Sun's light.

12 Why do we explore space?

13 To sum up Our planet is one of the unique planets in the huge universe.
