2 SUMMARY On Amazon, Schneider, an author, wrote and sold many books on the website. Viewers and amazon are allowed to post opinions on the book. Amazon posted multiple negative comments on the book and Schneider requested that they delete them. Amazon agreed to delete them. Although, Amazon did not follow through. Schneider then sued Amazon for defamation and for Breach of Contract. They dismissed the law suit, but Schneider appealed.

3 KEY WORDS Defamation- damaging the reputation of another person. Breach of contract- Not doing something in a legal contract. Communications Decency Act- The Communications Decency Act of 1996 was the first notable attempt by the US Congress to regulate pornographic material on the Internet. Online Sales- where customers are able to choose from online sales and purchase goods by their own will.

4 DECISION Amazon was not subject to the breach of contract. Amazon met the qualifications for immunity because it publishes information that is submitted by users. Although it is unknown whether Amazon published the reviews, it is a matter of editorial discretion. They are also not subjected to damaging the reputation of another person in a review.
