21 Types of Solutions Hypotonic – concentration of solute is higher INSIDE the cell. Hypotonic – concentration of solute is higher INSIDE the cell. Hypertonic – concentration of solute is higher OUTSIDE the cell. Hypertonic – concentration of solute is higher OUTSIDE the cell. Isotonic – concentrations of solutes is the same inside and outside the cell Isotonic – concentrations of solutes is the same inside and outside the cell
