After viewing/reading the exhibit, discuss with your group which of the 4 “isms” is best exemplified by the exhibit. Refer to your “ism” handout! At the bell, move clockwise to the next exhibit. 7 Exhibit 5 Psychoanalytic Theory: Unconscious Inner Forces Drive Behavior 1.Amy’s therapist believes that Amy’s current relationship difficulties stem from the unstable relationship she had with her father 2.Andrew is 57 years old and is an accomplished professional, but he never feels like his work is good enough and is always afraid that people will be unhappy with his performance. He realizes that he might have this outlook because when he was growing up, his father criticized everything he did. If he brought home a test with an A+ on it, his father would comment that Andrew must have cheated because he certainly wasn’t smart enough to do that well on his own.

8 Exhibit 6 - “Persistence of Memory” Time is the theme here, from the melting watches to the decay implied by the swarming ants. The monstrous fleshy creature draped across the paintings center is an approximation of the artist’s own face in profile.

10 Illustrate your interpretation of what Gregor looks like as a bug at this point in Chapter One. Choose two significant parts of your drawing and explain why, with quote from book, it’s an example of that ism.
