1 BLOWN GLASS ART The earliest recoded use of glass was in 1500 BC by the Egyptians who used it to make glass tiles, figures, and the earliest beads. In the second century AD, the use of glass spread throughout the Middle East. The Greeks produced early glassware that shows evidence of being produced by pipe. In time forms of blown glass became different and varied and by the Fourth Century, drinking glasses and wine bottles were becoming common.

2 Dale Chihuly Born in 1941 in Tacoma, Washington, Chihuly was introduced to glass while attending the University of Washington. After graduating in 1965, Chihuly enrolled in the first glass program in the country at the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!) Chihuly has created more than a dozen well-known series of work, among them, Cylinders and Baskets in the 1970s; Seaforms, Macchia, Venetians and Persians in the 1980s; Niijima Floats and Chandeliers in the 1990s, and Fiori in the 2000s. 9 How we will make glass beads Add frit to your glass tube While continuously rotating, heat up tube slowly until glowing hot When the tube is bright glowing orange, remove from flame and gently blow into open end of tube while continuously rotating Let cool in kiln until the following day Score and break end of tube, add ornament top and enjoy!
