9 9 What is the FCE test like? The test has five sections:  Reading - 60 minutes  Writing - 2 tasks, 80 minutes  Use of English - 45 minutes  Listening - 40 minutes  Speaking - interview, two /three candidates, 14 minutes Cambridge English: First, also known as First Certificate in English (FCE), is an exam for people who need to prove they can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level for work or study purposes.

10 10  Cambridge English: First gives detailed, meaningful results. All candidates receive a Statement of Results. Candidates whose performance ranges between CEFR Levels C1 and B1 will also receive a certificate.  Cambridge English: First – Level C1 - Exceptional candidates sometimes show ability beyond B2 level.  Cambridge English: First – Level B2 If the candidate achieves grade B or C in your exam, he/she will be awarded the First Certificate in English at Level B2.  Level B1 Certificate If his/her performance is below Level B2, but falls within Level B1, he/she will receive a Cambridge English certificate stating that he/she demonstrated ability at B1 level.

11 11 Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) is a high-level English qualification which tests a variety of language skills in depth- for people who want to use English in demanding study and work situations.  What is the CAE test like? The test has five sections:  Reading- 75 min,  Writing-90min,  Use of English-60min,  Listening-40min.  The Speaking test is taken face-to-face with two/three candidates and two examiners.

12 12 - Certificate in Advanced English – Level C2 Exceptional candidates sometimes show ability beyond C1 level. If a candidate achieves grade A in his/her exam, he/she will receive the Certificate in Advanced English stating that he/she demonstrated ability at Level C2. -Certificate in Advanced English – Level C1 If the candidate achieves grade B or C in the exam, he/she will be awarded the Certificate in Advanced English at Level C1. Level B2 certificate -If his/her performance is below Level C1, but falls within Level B2, he/she will receive a Cambridge English certificate stating that he/she demonstrated ability at B2 level.

The FCE test can be taken every June in paper-based format How much does it cost to take FCE /CAE ? Fees are set by British Council, Bucharest – FCE 575 Ron CAE 610 Ron in 2012
