2 Thank You!!! For sending in your revised Component 4s in such a timely fashion. The SIPs are currently being read and feedback will be delivered to you through your Executive Director and Planning Facilitator in the next week.

3 So now what do we do ?

4 Your next step in the SIP process is to begin to develop your school plan to fit your new group of students and their set of needs by analyzing the data.

6 Some of these activities will be for the next school year. Your SIP should be written to include two years, 08-09 and 09-10.

10 Before beginning to type your new information into your SIP you must DELETE ALL your strikethroughs and change all red ink to black. Basically you will begin with a clean document free of red ink and strikethroughs. 11 In this SIP there will be two Title I dollar amounts: 08-09 actual budgeted Title I dollars and 09-10 projected budget Title I dollars. Please make sure you clearly mark which budget (08-09 or 09-10) is being used for funding. If an activity is occurring in both years, mark both budget years as a funding source. 13 In Component 4, if you want to address a specific subgroup for example, in reading, you need to include that as an objective under the goal that addresses reading for the whole school. ( from Dr. Connie Smith) In Component 4, the Action Step must include student centered, teacher centered and organization centered action steps. The focus has been on the use of starting with a verb, so use "The student will or The teacher will". ( from Dr. Connie Smith)

14 Please fill in the outcome column when a timeline has been met. For Performance Results or Outcomes, this will be a projection of improvement based on what actually happened last year or the baseline at the end of the year. ( From Dr. Connie Smith)

15 Make sure that all necessary items/ events are in your action steps that cover this time period for your SIP. (The October 1st will be approving items till January 1 st ) A new Action Step Authorization (ASA) form will be drawn up to reflect action steps & $ resource in this SIP. This will go through an approval process. Spending of money cannot occur until this ASA form is approved.

16 If you are a Title I School make sure that you are including the 10 components in your plan. Contact your planning facilitator to receive an explanation. If you are a school in high priority you are required to make sure certain elements are in your plan. Your planning facilitator can assist you with this information. Schools in corrective action will have their SIP forwarded to Brenda Elliot-Johnson.

18 GOAL 1 – Action Plan Development Template 4.1 – (Rubric Indicator 4.1. Revised DATE: This will be used to internally track revisions of your plan. Section A –Describe your goal and identify which need(s) it addresses. (Remember that your previous components identified the strengths and challenges/needs.) Goal What area of student academic performance do you plan to improve? What group of students? How much improvement? Measured by what? By when? Which need(s) does this Goal address?What need identified in Component 1b does this address? How is this Goal linked to the system’s Five-Year Plan?To what goal of your system’s Five-year Plan or TCSSP does this relate? ACTION STEPS – Template 4.2 – (Rubric Indicator 4.2) IMPLEMENTATION – Template 4.3 – (Rubric Indicator 4.3) Section B – Descriptively list the action you plan to take to ensure you will be able to progress toward your goal. Action steps are strategies and interventions which should be scientifically based where possible and include professional development, technology, communication, and parent and community involvement initiatives within the action steps of each goal. Section C – For each of the Action Steps you list, give timeline, person(s) responsible, projected cost(s)/required resources, funding sources, evaluation strategy and performance results/outcomes. (For Evaluation Strategy, define how you will evaluate the action step.) As you implement the action, how will you determine if it is being carried out as planned and accomplishing the desired outcome? This can be left blank initially. As you gather data about the effect of this action, place it here for comparison with desired outcomes. Action Step 1.2 What else do you plan to do? Your action steps should be connected to the work done in Component 3 that studied your current efforts to improve student academic performance. Complete for each action step. Action Step 1.3 Provide a sufficient number of planned actions to provide a multi-faceted approach to accomplishing your goal without planning too much to effectively manage. Action Step 1.4 Action steps should address what the school as a whole, teachers, and targeted students are going to do.
