6 The Business Case for EQIA Group Discussion: What are the benefits to Bristol City Council of conducting EQIA? How might they help us? What resistance or barriers (from both inside and outside the Council) may there be? How might we overcome these?

8 Process Overview 1. Workshop One (Screening stage) – Identify Aims and objectives, initial consideration of impact 2. Data gathering/research 3. Workshop Two - Consideration of data and assessment of impact 4. Consult stakeholders and consider results 5. Workshop Three – Plan actions to mitigate adverse impact etc., consider monitoring arrangements 6. Publish results / Implement action plan

9 Consultations Group Discussion: Why is this stage of the process important? Who might you contact to access the views of different communities? What considerations do you need to make, in terms of how you conduct the consultations? What likely barriers, or resistance may you come up against?

10 Practical Exercises Concessionary Bus Travel Project: 1. In groups/pairs, complete both the screening and full EqIA forms for this project 2. In groups/pairs, review what your previous group came up with – any gaps, omissions or other ideas? 3. Review the ‘real’ EqIA for this project – did you identify all the issues? Were there any other impacts to add?
