2. Brainstorm Story Ideas Take five minutes for each group member to write a list of 5 topics Share that list one-by-one, as one group member writes it down Evaluate each topic its value (write it down) ImpactConflict NoveltyProminence ProximityTimeliness

3. Pick a focus/tone Each group member needs to choose from the list. Check the topic with Mrs. Harmeyer Once you get approval, begin researching and writing. For each person and their topic, this process is going to be different. Utilize the 5W’s and H as a plan for your article.

4. Write the Lead Once you feel you have all the information you need – write your lead. Check your lead with Mrs. Harmeyer and rewrite if necessary. Once your lead is approved, finish the article (remember your lead is the beginning of your article)

5. Edit and Correct Meet individually with Mrs. Harmeyer to proofread and edit your article. Make corrections to your article. Locate or take any photos, clip art or designs that you need.

6. Layout Meet as a group to layout your page. Place articles, photos, clip art or other visual pieces on your page. Don’t forget the headlines!! Email the final product to Mrs. Harmeyer as a pdf file.

7. Print – Fold – Stuff - Deliver Mrs. Harmeyer will print your pages on the 11x17 paper. Fold the pages in half. Make sure you have the right pages facing out. Stuff one colored sheet with one white sheet in the middle. During advisor tomorrow, pick up your paper delivery responsibilities and deliver them.

8. Congratulate yourself on a job well done!
