2. Essential Questions: Why do we need to know the alphabet? When do we use the alphabet in our everyday life?

3. Unit Questions: -Can you tell me what each letter sounds like? -Can you tell me what letter goes with what word?

4. What Students Will Accomplish Students will master being able to write the alphabet from a-z. Students will also be able to associate what words go with certain letters. Students will also be able to know the order of the alphabet and know which letters come before others.

5. TEKS §110.2. English Language Arts and Reading, Kindergarten. (7) Reading/letter-sound relationships. The student uses letter-sound knowledge to decode written language. The student is expected to: (A) name and identify each letter of the alphabet (K-1); (B) understand that written words are composed of letters that represent sounds (K-1); and (C) learn and apply letter-sound correspondences of a set of consonants and vowels to begin to read (K-1).
