Books That Made A Difference To Victoria Freeman 12/17/13

Introduction I’ve loved books since the moment I could read. Throughout my childhood I always had my nose in a book. I read every book in my house and when I finished those I began to put a dent in my school library. I read Dr. Seuss, Judy Bloom, and Shel Silverstein. The best part was losing myself in the stories. I love how you can read a story, slip away from reality, and wrap yourself in the story like it’s a warm blanket during a snowstorm. As I got older I began to read books meant for higher grade levels. I would devour a book a day and my favorite place became the library. Now I love reading just as much, if not more, and reading is by far my most favorite way to past the time.

The Giving Tree By: Shel Silverstein The giving tree is a beautiful story. It is about a boy who grows up with a tree. The tree gives the little boy everything and in the end, when the tree can give the boy nothing, she still gives him everything. This book has stuck with me since my father read it to me when I was five years old. Even thought the book is only about twenty pages, it still makes me tear up to this day. I love the meaning behind the story; when you love someone you will do anything for them. It is such a sweet story and it is definitely one of my favorite books.

The Harry Potter Series By: J.K Rowling This is the largest and longest series I have ever read. I love this series because, it is full of action and there was not a single dull moment. This series is about a boy named Harry Potter. His parents were killed by the evil Voldemort and when Voldemort tried to kill Harry his mother’s love protected him and Voldemort vanished. Harry became “The Boy Who Lived” but, he also became Voldemort’s number one enemy. So, the novels in the series follow Harry through his life and his many adventures. I especially love J.K Rowling’s writing style; she wrote in 3 rd person objective and many novels tend to be in 1 st person. The fact that she wrote in 3 rd person objective is also special because, it makes you feel like a part of the story, it is like she’s telling you the story.

The Twilight Series By: Stephanie Meyer The series is fantastic. It is full of romance, comedy, and action. It is about a normal girl, Bella, who catches the eye of an attractive, lonely, sparkling vampire, Edward, that attends her high school when she moves to Forks, Washington. Bella finds out that Edward is a vampire and she doesn't care. They fall in love but, not everyone is happy that Edward is dating a human. The books follow them through their unique relationship ups and downs, multiple dangerous vampire fights, and even touch on werewolves. I love this series because I love that the series is full or romance but, it’s not too gushy. I adore that despite everything thrown at them Bella and Edward end up together. This book toyed with my emotions. It was beautifully written and Stephanie Meyer is a very talented author.
