Fortin ACTIVITIES DEVELOPED Inductions to students –Inductions were given to students on the different trimesters in order to increase the use of the material Coordinators Certification –All coordinators involved received the GES course LEVEL 1 –Several coordinators participated on a content development demonstration Seminars –Several coordinators participated on the seminars provided by the UC3M referring to content development and course methodology Inductions to IDEA personnel –To help students many tutors received inductions about how to access the contents and how to use these

Fortin CONTENT DEVELOPMENT Docbook –XMLMIND EDITOR was used to transform documents to the docbook format Content Packaging –RELOAD EDITOR was used to pack all contents The reason of why these applications its because not all content developers were familiar with the XML language and how to create the contents step-by-step

Fortin TROUBLESHOOTING Internet Explorer –Several problems were reported about platform access Communication –Many tutors were not informed Connectivity Docbook Transformation –The adaptation of use to this new applications caused a delay in some cases of the content delivery

Fortin OBSERVATIONS Not all tutors informed their students about the contents Not all tutors had a direct access to the contents By the second trimester all content production was developed by the area coordinators In order to get to the student we must first approach the tutor

Fortin FUTURE PLANS New courses will be developed to capacitate all tutors in the use of the contents and platform (December 2005) –An online course on how to use the dotLRN platform and its services –Online courses for tutors to enforce their knowledge about the course content –New courses for support in areas where students might need more help
