1 Kidneys are very important in maintaining homeostasis. They remove cellular waste from the bloodstream.

2  A tiny filtering unit of a kidney ◦ made of a cuplike structure and a duct ◦ water, sugar, salt & wastes from the blood pass into the cuplike structure and are squeezed into a narrow tubule

3  Most materials are reabsorbed back into the bloodstream as the liquid moves through the tubule  The remaining liquid, excess water, salt, and other wastes form urine, which is removed from the body
