2 Hypothesis #1  Health care providers are not aware of NLM resources such as MedlinePlus and Info Rx and training can increase awareness. Outcome: Health care providers are aware of NLM consumer resources such as MedlinePlus and Info Rx Measure: Training participants will report immediate increase in awareness of resources Method: Pre-/post-session evaluation; 2-month follow-up

3 Hypothesis #2  A health information literacy training taught by hospital librarians can raise awareness among health care providers and impact quality care. Outcome: Health care providers are aware of health literacy issues and see value in changing patient interactions Measure: Training participants will report immediate increase in health literacy knowledge and intention to act Method: Pre-/post-session evaluation; 2-month follow-up

4 Hypothesis #3  Use of Info Rx by health care providers to refer patients to MedlinePlus and hospital librarians can be increased via education and support. Outcome: Health care providers will use Info Rx to refer patients to MedlinePlus and hospital librarians Measure: Training participants will use Info Rx to refer patients over two to six-month period Method: 2-month follow-up; Info Rx tracking system
