3. Letter from VFRFC Chairman Dear Fellow Rugby Enthusiast, It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Valley Fort Rugby Football Club’s Mini Rugby Festival 2011. This is the second time Valley Fort has the privilege to host such an occasion. We have given ourselves the challenge to do better than we did last year in providing a well-organized and enjoyable day for children and parents. Mini- Rugby in Hong Kong has become extremely popular and beating the Guinness record for a mini-Rugby tournament epitomised it. Today’s program includes 251 teams from 19 different clubs representing more than 3,000 young Rugby Players. An immense list of people from inside and outside the club have helped with the organization of this event and we are grateful for every contribution, however large or small, thank you all. We would particularly like to thank our sponsors, Linklaters and Tradition (club kit sponsors), Societe Generale (medals), Macquarie Bank (balls) and Swire Beverages (Bonaqua - water). 4. Luna New Year Message Kim Lam, Chairperson, HKMRFU I hope all of you enjoy the good luck of the year of Rabbit and enlightening of red pocket lucky money. It is my great pleasure, on behalf of Hong Kong Mini Rugby Football Union (HKMRFU) to welcome you all to the Valley Fort RFC(VF) festival today. We are all happy to support VF as the host of this festival again at King’s Park for their 2 nd year. VF is the largest mini rugby club in Hong Kong. They set a good example in how to develop and lead mini rugby sports within the Locall community. Whilst VF started with predominately expatriate members they have undergone an ever steady growth, and up to now, they have evolved into an integrated sport club form the south-eastern area of Hong Kong Island. VF boasts children and parents from many different cultures and nationalities and successfully combines all into one “great harmony” organisation – this demonstrates the spirit of Mini Rugby. At the HKMRFU of 18 clubs, several clubs organise festivals and run U12 Richard Hawkes League regularly throughout the season. Through the matches and games in the mini festivals, all of us encourage fairness and enjoyment for our children. We also endeavor to ensure upmost important elements, such as: safety of the players, due respect to opposite teams and ‘be considerate’ to each other, to be nurtured for the continued development of mini rugby sports in Hong Kong. Finally may we extend our sincere congratulations to the Chairman and all devoted volunteers of Valley Fort for their enthusiastic involvement in making today’s festival a great success.
