3 Image Poem 1. Choose a picture 2. Write a poem that describes the picture and the feelings it evokes. 3. Focus on imagery while using figurative language (alliteration, simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole ect.) 4. You will turn in the picture with the poem

4 5 W’s 1. Choose a desirable character trait (friendship, love, charity, compassion, sympathy, dedication, optimism, enthusiasm, perseverance, ect) 2. Create a situation that demonstrates the trait you have chosen by answering the 5 W’s: Who? What? Where? When? Why?

6 Metaphorical Thinking poem This poem should be entirely composed of metaphors and similes. Stray away from cliché and use word associations to describe feelings, sights, etc.

10 Slam Poetry This needs to be about something that impacts your life. This is your opportunity to get creative! This can be in the form of a “rap”. Be sure to still use figurative language. Remember “Slam Poetry” is meant to be preformed, not just read: EXTRA 10 POINTS to your test grade if you perform it for the class OR video tape yourself performing it and turn it in with your portfolio.
