I Would like to show you a man that will teach us a good example. A person that stands out in the scriptures because of his good conduct and not only that, but this person also pleased God in everything that he did, because he was looking to do the will of God. Acts.10:4… “4And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Matthew.8:5-9 Matthew.8:5-9 … “5Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” 7And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9“For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

The qualities that Cornelius had… He was devout. He feared God. He gave alms generously to the people. He constantly prayed.

“1There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. The Word DEVOUT means: The Word DEVOUT means: devoted to divine worship or service, expressing devotion or piety, earnest or sincere; hearty

Psalms 4:3 Psalms 4:3… “But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. I Tim.5:4 I Tim.5:4… “4But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. II Pet.2:9 II Pet.2:9… “9then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, The person that is Godly and Devout will always walk close to God. Gen.5:22… “ 24And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. Prov.16:6… “In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

Proverbs 8:13... “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. If we don’t fear God we will not hate evil and we will practice evil whether we like it or not. The person who takes pleasure in evil things practices evil.

2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. Matthew.6:2… “2“Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

It is a Bible commandment that we must help those who are in need, there is no way that we will get rid of this responsibility. James.2:14-16… “14What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? I John.3:17… “17But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? Acts.20:35… “35“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. Brethren, how much time are we using in prayer? Or… Are we praying to God only when we have difficulties in our lives? We must pray at all times.

Luke.18:1… “1Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, Romans.12:12… “12rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; I Thes. 5:17… “17pray without ceasing,

Are we? Devout… Do we Fear God… Do we give ALMS or help those in Need… Do we Pray everyday? If we are doing all this, then we are like Cornelius…
