3 Middle States Commission on Higher Education  The Commission accredits degree-granting colleges and universities in the Middle States region (includes Delaware, D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania)  The Commission is a voluntary, non- governmental, membership association that defines, maintains, and promotes educational excellence across institutions with diverse missions, student populations, and resources.  http://www.msche.org/ http://www.msche.org/

4 Self-Study Process  Steering committee leads working groups in examining data and reports, gathering new information, and writing their topic reports linking to the Middle States 14 Standards of Excellence  Working groups’ reports are edited for a draft of the Self-Study by the steering committee.  The self-study is presented for campus feedback.  A Middle States evaluation team reviews the self-study and visits campus to review further documentation and conduct interviews

6 Self-Study Theme  Self-study’s primary purpose: advance institutional self-understanding and self- improvement  Main theme from the Gold Standard Committee Conversational Forums and the Strategic Summit and therefore in the draft Vision and Mission Statements
