2 Research – Middle School Effectiveness 2014 Ofsted inspection outcomes to March 2014 – with 77% of middle schools judged good or outstanding – out performing other forms of schooling. Intake Benchmarking – KS1 data from first schools clearly shows different profile from national average – with many more judged Level 3 Key Stage 2 – 2013 – KS2 average for middle schools above the county average in half of three tier authorities. KS3 Benchmarking – improving trend in English Maths and Science over last four years.

3 Middle Schools - 2014 Firstly some factual information: There are currently 170 middle schools All except 11 are middle deemed secondary schools There are currently 54 middle schools with academies status. (32%) Middle schools cater for 73,015 pupils 18, 164 pupils took their KS2 SATs in middle schools in 2013
