2.  I chose this topic because in September of 2011 my three-year-old cousin grabbed his dad’s pistol and shot the tip of his right index finger off.

3.  Most firearm injuries happen to teens but there are many children involved with firearm injuries also  Children with emotional or behavioral problems may be more likely to use to guns to help “solve their problems”

4.  Guns should be stored in a lock box, safe, or car ◦ out of reach of kids  You should not try and hide the fact that you have a gun in the house ◦ The better something is hidden that kids know about, the more important it is to find. ◦ Tell them there is a gun and then tell them that it is dangerous and they should not mess with it.

5.  If children use guns they should ◦ Have adult supervision at all times. ◦ Be taught the proper way to use a gun. ◦ Be taught the dangers of a gun. ◦ Understand that they should not point a gun at anyone. So that they do not accidentally pull the trigger and shoot them. ◦ Understand the importance of gun safety and why they need to follow the rules.

12.  Yes it was. I got to talk to younger kids about the safety of guns and hopefully they all paid attention and I helped stop some accidental gun injuries or death.
