O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:1-9, ESV

Psalm 8 The Psalm of the Astronomer Church of Christ at Medina January 19 th, 2014

God’s glory in the creation. David was amazed at the universe and the power and glory that it brought to its creator. Psalm 19:1-6 Psalm 89:11-13 Job 38:31-33 Isaiah 40:25-26

God’s glory in creating man. Man was – and is – different from any of the other creations of God. Genesis 1:26-27, 28-30 But, when compared with the vast universe, it is hard to believe that God would even notice man! Yes, compared to God Himself, man is nothing. – Isaiah 40:22 – Daniel 4:34-35

God’s glory in creating man. God, though, does consider man. He cares for man and desires that man worship and serve Him. John 4:23 Hebrews 13:15 Ephesians 1:16-18 Matthew 21:12-17

God’s greatest glory! The act that gives God the most glory though is not creation of the universe or man. It is the act of selfless love in giving Jesus. Hebrews 2:5-18

Conclusion God deserves our glory and praise. We can only do this by being obedient to Him. Will you today?
