5 21-09-0069-03-00005 Power Saving vs. Reachability Deactivating unused radio interface is inevitable to reduce power consumption of multi-radio terminal. However, the deactivated radio interface looses network reachability thus impossible to serve incoming traffic. We need a way to keep network reachability even for the deactivated radio interface.

6 21-09-0069-03-00006 Multi-Radio Power Management MRPM defines multi-radio power states and manages them between MN and MIH PoS to provide network reachability for deactivated radio interface Network reachability of single radio terminal If a radio interface is deactivated in single radio terminal, the terminal completely looses network reachability. The traffic toward the terminal cannot be delivered. Network reachability of multi-radio terminal Deactivated radio interface can be regarded as reachable by the help of another radio which can be utilized to locate the terminal for the incoming traffic.
