10 Page 63: Cornell Notes  Dimensional Analysis  A problem-solving method that uses the fact that any number or expression can be multiplied by one without changing its value

11 Page 63: Cornell Notes  Example:  You have 15 roses, how many dozens of roses do you have?  First you have to know the conversion factor, what is the conversion factor for dozens of roses? 12 roses per one dozen or 12 roses/dozen  Now take your known (15 roses) and apply:  15 roses x 1 dozen/12 roses = 1.25 dozen of roses

12 Page 63: Cornell Notes  You can invert a conversion factor any time the problem requires it.  How do you know when to invert a conversion factor?  Make sure whatever unit you start with is on the bottom (denominator) of your conversion factor.
