The Parable of the Sower Matt. 13:1-23

THE SETTING Parable = “To throw beside.” A comparison between familiar fact and spiritual truth. “Broadcast” spreading.

THE SOWER Teacher of God’s word. Psalm 126:5-6. 1 Cor. 3:6 – Fellow-workers with God. 1 Cor. 9:6 – Sow sparingly – reap sparingly.

THE SEED The “seed” is the Word – Luke 8:11. Seed contains life. John 6:63; 1 Pet. 1:23. Seed bears fruit “after its kind.” Gen. 1:12. Seed is indispensible to kingdom growth. Seed has power. James 1:21.

THE SOIL (Soil Samples) INDIFFERENT HEART. SHALLOW HEART. CLUTTERED HEART. COMMITTED HEART.

Application The seed MUST BE SOWN. Not all sowing will be “productive.” We must not allow influences to harden us. Materialism can choke out love for truth. Faithful will bear fruit, but not at same rate.

Will you not tell it today?
