2 Fun Facts She traveled thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean between 1804 and 1806 The National American Woman Suffrage Association of the early twentieth century adopted her as a symbol of women's worth and independence, erecting several statues and plaques in her memory, and doing much to spread the story of her accomplishments Clark nicknamed her "Janey"

3 Quote: "Everything I do is for my people." - Sacagawea Sacagawea was sold to her husband Charbonneau, and when he was hired by Captain Meriwether Lewis and Captain William Clark. Sacagawea really wanted to go with her husband, so they allowed her. She had her first child on the expedition, which proved to other tribes that they come in peace. Sense a woman wouldn’t travel with a war party. Sacagawea saved there life's many times by knowing what food to pick or how to trade food, and to prove they that came in peace.

4 This is the Statue of Sacagawea and her baby Sacagawea gave her first born baby to Lewis and Clark to take care of, when the expedition was over. She then had a baby girl with her husband Charbonneau. There is a statue of Sacagawea and her baby in the North Dakota State Cap. Sacagawea ultimately rejoined the Shoshone on their Wind River reservation and died there in 1884 ital. Sacagawea was part of the Shoshone tribe before she was taken from there as a child.
