2. June Series Large entry some re sits. Q1 - Civil Procedure. Overall fairly well done. Some candidates only discussed the basics of the civil procedure rules. Nearly all candidates recognised that ADR was part of the Woolf reforms but for many candidates this led to a complete essay on ADR which limited them to level 2. Evaluation was weak for part b.

3. June Series Q2. Popular question with extreme variations on the quality of answers. Unsure of what the question was asking for part b.The meaning Modern equity was misinterpreted. Some confusion over whether information should be in part a or b.

4. June Series Q3 - Juries, most popular question, overall well done. However some largely omitted to refer to the overall role of the jury. Part b produced a mix standard of answers. Candidates are still missing the provisions of the CJA 2003.

5. June Series Q4 – Morality and rule of law. Unpopular choice. Poorly answered. Lack of supporting case law. Hart v Devlin debate was barely mentioned. Q5 - ADR. Overall part a well answered. Part b many answers produced rehearsed evaluation which limited candidates to level 2.

6. June Series Q6 – Legal aid. Least popular answer on the paper. Part a was fairly well answered. Part b had good definitions of conditional fee arrangements. Evaluation was weak. No candidates showed an awareness of the recent Jackson report.

7. Structuring Answers Some weaknesses in the organisation and planning of answers –Candidates must have a clear understanding of the assessment objectives. –They need to have a clear understanding of what the question/ statement demands
