1. We were all asked to choose a subject to do with our main topic when I was told this I thought and thought and thought about my subject. In the end I decided to research Maori artists the teachers seemed impressed and tried to help me by suggesting books in the library and Maori artists they already knew about. But I decided to start from scratch without any help. I went to Google and searched Maori artists and I found Theresa's name came up several times. I decided to research her art and when Mrs. Atkinson found I was researching Theresa she told me that Theresa did a mural on the wall at the end of the court at my old school. I was amazed and decided to stick to finding out more about her. I also found out she was my friends aunty.

2. Inspirational letter My partner Bryce and myself have six children and together we live inland from the wonderful beaches of Taitokerau. I don’t lack for inspiration; its finding the time to paint the beauty of it all. I draw my strength from my taha Maori and as I learn more about where I come from and my tupuna ancestors I feel more compelled to live my life as they would have me. My Belief is that we are all one, and live our lives for our grandchildren and descendants to come. I also believe that my skill as an artist is a gift, and as such my choices are important as to the path I take in life and the content of my work. I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
