He resigned with a hatred to imperialism. He adopted his pen name in 1933 Orwell lived for several years in poverty, sometimes homeless. Orwell volunteered to fight for the Republicans against Franco’s Nationalist uprising, and was shot on 1937. Orwell began supporting himself by writing in 1940. Orwell died at the age of 46 from tuberculosis.

He secretly hates the Party and decides to rebel by starting a diary in which he reveals his rebellious thoughts. Through keeping a diary, Winston commits thoughtcrime and knows that one day he will be discovered by the Thought Police and probably killed.

They are taken separately to the Ministry of Love. There, Winston learns that O'Brien is in fact an orthodox government agent and has deliberately tricked him.
