MARINE BIOME Biome Research By Jake Weems

2 MARINE BIOME Geography & Climate
Location: Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern. Description: Salty, Three Vertical Layers, Largest of all Biomes. Precipitation: Gives rain to land. Average Temperature: 39 degrees Climate: Sunny or cloudy

3 MARINE BIOME Biodiversity
These are some examples of the biodiversity: Plants: seaweed, algae, kelp, phytoplankton, and some mangrove trees Animals: fishes, mollusk, worms, clams, predatory crustaceans, whales, dolphins, bacteria, fungi, invertebrates, micro-organisms, coral, oysters, etc…. Over 1 million species discovered.

4 MARINE BIOME Adaptations Needed for Survival
Plants in this biome have adapted to live in salt water, and deep roots to stay in the ground during the currents. Animals in this biome have adapted fins to swim and gills to breathe under water. Some fish swim in schools, or groups, to confuse or increase chance of escape from an attack

5 MARINE BIOME Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic
Biotic- Plants covert gasses into oxygen that other animals need. Coral provides shelter for fishes and in return the fish eat the algae on the coral. Abiotic-

6 What is Biodiversity? Biodiversity is the variety of life. Biodiversity is mostly classified by species. Biodiversity includes all living things no matter how big or small. Species biodiversity is only one part, to be more specific you need to use if it is Genetic, a variation between genes in a species, and Ecological, diversity of ecosystems.

7 How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem?
Biodiversity supplies an array of foods and materials for the ecosystem to survive. For example, biodiversity of pollinators and plants help supply with the some of the basic needs of survival. Another example would be, research for vaccines and drugs have often come from research on a plant or animal biology.
