3  Transgression of law (1 Jn. 3:4)  Chosen, deliberate omission of the law (James 4:17)  All unrighteousness is sin (1 Jn. 5:17) What Is Sin?

4  A number of factors contribute to this, all of which attempt to minimize sin:  “Everyone does it”  “God made me this way”  “I can’t see any harm in it”  “We’re not supposed to judge”  “God wants me to be happy and to feel good” How Has Sin “Disappeared?”

5  Sloughing off of responsibility and accountability  Case in point: Adam and Eve (Gen. 3:1- 13)  Adam and Eve sinned against God by eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil  Pointed fingers at others, but not themselves

6 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die (Eze. 18:4)

7 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom. 6:23)

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death (Rev. 21:8).

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9-10).

10  God did not send Jesus to the earth for trivial business  He sent his Son to die for our sins; He takes this seriously (Gal. 1:4)  We must take our sins seriously Sin IS Serious

11  What we MUST do  We must admit we have sinned (1 Jn. 1:9)  We must turn to Jesus for salvation (Matt. 1:21; Jn. 8:24)  We must repent of our sins (Lk. 13:3)  We must seek forgiveness For the non-Christian by baptism (Acts 2:38) For the Christian by repentance and prayer (Acts 8:22)
