Station One - Length of Block Measure the length of the block in cm. Record the initial measurement in the data table. Using dimensional analysis, convert the length of the block to miles. Useful factors: 1 inch = 2.54 cm 12 inches = 1 foot 5,280 feet = 1 mile

Station Two - D of Object Measure the mass and volume of the object. Use the data to calculate the density of the object in g/mL. Record this initial density in the data table. Convert the g/mL to kg/m 3 using dimensional analysis. Show your work. Record the kg/m 3 in the data table. Useful factor: 1 mL of water = 1 cm 3 of water 1000 grams = 1 kilogram

Station Three - V of Water Measure the volume of the water in mL. Record the initial measurement in the data table. Convert the measurement to quarts using dimensional analysis. Show your work, and record the answer in the data table. Useful factor: 1 liter = 1.06 quart 1000 milliliters = 1 liter

Station Four - W of Hall Measure the width of the 300 hallway in meters. Record the data on your table. Measure the length of one group member’s average step in meters. Use dimensional analysis to convert the width of the hallway to steps. Show your work, and record your answer in the data table.

Station Five – D of Solution Use at least 3.2 grams of salt and a minimum of 90 mL of water to prepare a solution. Then, determine the density of the solution. Show your work, and record your answer in the data table.

In this lab, you and your lab partner are going to visit 5 lab stations. It does not matter in which order you visit the stations.

Record data at each lab station as you conduct the experiment. Data should go in data tables.

Show any calculations that you make to obtain new numbers. Put units on your measurements.

As you measure, remember sig figs. Did you make your best estimate of the last number? As you calculate, think about sig figs, too.

After you complete the lab, each person should submit their work in order to obtain a lab grade.

You will be evaluated on your data tables, your organization of the lab, and your calculations. Do your best!
