BY LAURA A. GARCIA Tornadoes and Hurricanes

Supplies Two 2-liter soda bottles Duct tape 4 different liquids (Coca-Cola, Orange juice, 2% milk, and water with food coloring in it) Food coloring (red, yellow, green, and blue) 2 and 7/8 cups of each liquid

To start video click on image. (warning: super slow motion… I tried my best) Coca-Cola Tornado I used 4 and 7/8 cups of Coca-Cola. The coke was less fizzier than normal because it had been transferred between bottles and measuring cups and drinking cups(for holding the coke while being measured) I think the coke’s tornado result could’ve been different if it was foamy and fizzy like it normally is. Without the fizz, it made more of a tornado than I think it should’ve been.

Orange Juice Tornado I used 4 and 7/8 cups of orange juice As the vortex moves, the air bubbles come up from the eye of the tornado and make bubbles. The orange juice doesn’t create a very good tornado because it is heavier so most of the O.J just flows down in to the bottom bottle.

2% Milk Tornado I used 4 and 7/8 cups of 2% milk The milk was foamy so most of the foam stayed at the top bottle while the more liquid part formed a slight vortex. The foam in the top bottle formed together but were still individual bubbles.

Water With Food Coloring In It I used 4 and 7/8 cups of water with a couple drops of food coloring(yellow, green, red and blue) The water formed the best tornado out of all of the liquids. It leaked more because it was the last liquid tested.
