1 Creating a Topographical Map using Sketchup This powerpoint assumes that you have already downloaded Sketchup and the “contours” plug-in Mary Rogero Fall 2013 #43

2 Select “add location” Open Sketchup and…

3 Enter project address A dialogue box will pop up, then….

4 Zoom in or out to get the desired area. Then press “select region” to crop image to desired size

5 Click on corner pins and move in, out, up or down to frame your preferred view, then….. Press “grab”

6 Image will appear at an odd angle. Select “Camera, Standard Views, Top” to reorient map.

7 Turn on layers and zoom out

8 Select Plugins…..Contours Indicate spacing You will see the model “twitch”

9 To change the color of the contours, Select Window Styles Select Color sets and pick a Color palette

10 To understand the flow of water, Use the rectangle command, draw a rectangle larger than the model, then use the push pull tool to bring the rectangle up and down through the contours.
