1 Regional Report on Ozone Observation Ozone Observation [ RA-II: Asia ] Regional Report on Ozone Observation Ozone Observation [ RA-II: Asia ] Hidehiko ISOBE Ozone Monitoring Center Japan Meteorological Agency 9th Meeting of the Ozone Research Managers of the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, Geneva, 14-16 May 2014 1

2 Satellite data (OMI, Aura/NOAA) 2 Importance of Ozone observation in RA-II  Total ozone has the maximum area around the Far-East in boreal winter - spring. => RA-II is one of the most important area for ozone observation. March 2013

3 National Reports of RA-II Countries [ Ozone observation ] 3 Ten countries have submitted the national report to the meeting. Seven of them have reported on the ozone observation in each country. Ten countries have submitted the national report to the meeting. Seven of them have reported on the ozone observation in each country.  The network of ozone observations are systematically operated. Vietnam has improved its instrument in 2011.  Calibration activities of observation data are carried out in some countries.  Two Central Asian countries need support to improve observation system and calibrate instrument.  Two southern Asia countries need financial and technical supports to start ozone observation.

10 10 Summary of RA-II (Asia) According to national retorts from RA-II countries, monitoring network of ozone observations are systematically operated. It is noted that Vietnam has replaced the instrument by means of Brewer in 2011.
